P.L.U.S. (Positive Learning Understanding Self)
Our P.L.U.S. (Positive Learning Understanding Self Program) is a program that we are seeking donors who will through either financial/and or new in-kind donations help us with our programs for obese public school high school young girls. There has been a rapid increase in the prevalence of youth overweight and its resulting health and academic problems have signaled an alarm for those of us who are invested in our children's health and development. The severity of the problem calls for entities to work together toward the prevention of overweight among youth and to more effectively intervene when a young person has been identified as overweight or at risk of overweight. More than 18 million young people in this country are overweight or obese. In fact, the U.S. now has the highest percentage of overweight youth in the nation's history. The excess pounds are not just a cosmetic concern. Recent research has helped us understand the multiple tolls that excess weight takes on both mental and physical health. Our after school program is designed to assist these young girls awareness in nutrition, physical fitness, self-esteem, make-up and a beauty pageant finale. Your freely willed tax-deductable donations will help us make a difference in changing the lifestyles of these young overweight teens.
DISASTER RELIEF AGENCY
Our disaster relief program is provided through in-kind assistance to individuals, and families in locations whose property has been damaged or destroyed and whose losses are not covered by insurance. It is meant to help them with household and clothing that cannot be covered in other ways.
Our crisis relief agency that was instrumental in the 911 relief efforts. Our nonprofit was awarded "New Yorker of the Week" for the efforts in which we reached out to the youths who had lost parents/and or relatives in this horrific act. We were also instrumental in assisting Hurricane Katrina victims with clothing, books, toys, that had relocated Georgia. There are still many of these individuals who are in need of training and employment. With our training expertise we expect to be able to train and offer employment in the future.
